My name is Alecia and my family and I have been attending Grace Church since December of 2023. While this may not seem like a long time, I am proud to say we have only missed one Sunday service and that was when we were moving our daughter into her college dorm.
We came to Grace when we no longer felt connected to our previous church. Our daughter was confused how people could act and say one thing in church, but act completely differently in public. She needed to see there were still good, loving, Godly people in the world that accepted others for who they are.
We attended a Sunday in December and sat off to the side and just observed what was going on. We had never attended an Episcopal church before. We were greeted by others and Father Tim talked with us and our daughter after the service. Everyone made us feel accepted. Everyone made our daughter feel as though her ideas were valued and she was allowed to ask questions. We saw good, loving, Godly people accepting others for who they are. We told ourselves we would give it one more try since we had a good experience the first time. We kept coming back every week and attending special events when our schedule allowed.
Since then we have become very involved with the church. We appreciate being invited to events and meetings even when we haven't attended here long. We are always greeted with a smile, a hug or handshake. Church members and clergy alike know us, know our family and check in on us often. We've gained friendships. We’ve invited our friends and family to join us to experience the joy we feel while at Grace.
To know Grace, you truly need to experience it. It is a church unlike any other I’ve attended. If you want to be included and involved in the church, there’s a place for you. If you want to attend, have your private relationship with God and then leave, there’s a place for you. If you want to try something new, or introduce something new to the group, there’s a place for you.
If you prefer to worship at home and watch Grace on FB or YouTube, or listen to a podcast of the sermon, there’s a place for you. If you have questions that you were afraid to ask or you never felt comfortable in a church setting, there is a place for you here.
Every week I leave church refreshed. I look forward to Sunday mornings when I get to worship with my friends and family.
During this summer Grace church participated in one of the LGBTQ Pride parades. I made a few signs. One said, “you CAN sit with us,” and I mean it.
You have a place at Grace.
You are welcome to sit with me and my family.
I am excited for you to experience all that Grace church has to offer!
